Scanning Your System
If you suspect that your computer may be infected by a virus or spyware, you can scan your computer manually.
To initiate a scan using the task bar icon:
- Right-click the Shaw Secure icon, and then click Virus & Spy Protection.
- Click Scan target for viruses, Scan hard drives for viruses, Scan system for spyware, or Scan system for rootkits to start the scan of your choice. If you select Scan target for viruses, a Browse for Folder window will open. Click the drive or folder you would like to scan, and then click OK.
To scan a specific file or folder:
- Right-click the file or folder you would like to scan for viruses, and select Scan [name of file or folder] for viruses.
To initiate a scan from the Shaw Secure interface:
- Open Shaw Secure.
- Click the Virus & Spy Protection tab.
- Click Scan my Computer, and then click the type of scan you would like to perform. If you click Scan target, a Browse for Folder window will open. Click the drive or folder you would like to scan, and then click OK.
