Configuring Teenager Profile

The Webpage Filter lets you block or log access to eleven different types of Web pages.

  • Adult: Web pages containing sexually-oriented text or pictures.
  • Gambling: Web pages that enable users to gamble online or that provide gambling information and advice. Also includes lottery Web sites and Web sites promoting pyramid schemes.
  • Webmail: Web pages that enable users to communicate using email.
  • Weapons: Web pages that allow users to order weapons, or that provide weapon pricing and dealer locations. Also includes Web sites containing instructions for creating or using weapons, ammunition, and poisons.
  • Hate: Web pages containing hate speech based on religion, race, nationality, gender, age, disability, or sexual orientation, as well as Holocaust revisionist or denial Web sites.
  • Drugs: Web pages that promote recreational drug use, or that include information on producing, buying, or selling drugs.
  • Chatting: Web pages that allow users to chat with others.
  • Dating: Web pages that allow users to find people to date.
  • Sports: Web pages that are related to sports.
  • Travel: Web pages that allow you to book trips to different destinations.
  • Violence: Web pages that relate to violence in all its forms.

By default, the Web page Filter allows access to Webmail pages and denies access to the other seven types of Web pages.

To modify Web page Filter settings:
  1. Open Shaw Secure.
  2. Click the Advanced link.
  3. Click the plus sign next to the Parental Control category, and then click Teenager.
  4. Select whether you would like to block access to Filter Web sites by category, or just log access. To block access, under Webpage Filter, select Filter Web pages by category. To log access only, select Allow all, but list visited Web pages.
  5. Click Edit, select the types of Web pages you would like to filter.
  6. Click OK.
